Celebrating its 10th anniversary, RDF chose to give back to the community with grants to these organizations who serve low-income families and individuals providing basic needs services like food pantries and free primary health care. Awardees, receiving $5,000 grants and who are all part of the NCLR's Affiliate Network are:• Association House of Chicago and Eire Neighborhood House, Chicago "I can't think of a more meaningful way to celebrate our anniversary than to support education and give back to our community by supporting organizations that are directly helping to ease the burdens of the economic crisis for those most in need " said RDF President and CEO Tom Espinoza." Joining the Community Thank You Reception will be executives from State Farm Insurance Company®, a founding member of RDF. "We are proud to join RDF in giving back to communities across the nation," says Lori Manning, director in the Community Relations Division at State Farm. Chicago Students, Schools Honored In addition, two local Charter School operators ASPIRA Inc. and Noble Network of Charter Schools will also receive $5,000 each to further their work in educating children in low-income communities. "Over the last 10 years, RDF has become the nation's largest Latino community development financial institution, funding hundreds of projects nationally, these awards allows us to further support the organizations that bear the brunt of today's economic calamities" added Raul Yzaguirre, Chairman of the Board of Directors for RDF. Considering today's difficult economic times, RDF is helping to lead the way in community re-investment programs and maintain the focus on providing access to education, healthcare and affordable housing for low-income families and individuals.
