To help Executive Directors deal with immediate leadership challenges, the New York City-based nonprofit Community Resource Exchange is piloting a new service called the Executive Director Hotline: 1-917-344-6678.

Executive Directors of New York area community-based organizations can call the Hotline every business day. Senior members of the CRE staff will share the responsibility of guaranteeing a callback within 24 business hours that will provide immediate assistance via "amped up" information and referral, strategic advice, guidance and coaching. The intention is to cut problems off at the pass so that nonprofits can focus on service delivery. CRE will track the issues that clients present during these calls as well as the advice given and tools and resources referred.

"Perhaps a Director badly needs a coaching tip on a sensitive HR issue, or a recommendation for a referral from a trusted source. With the Hotline, the Director can get answers to these types of problems quickly via the phone," said Fran Barrett, Executive Director of CRE. "Plus, the community-based organizations know us and trust us, so the Director can call and feel at ease," she added.

About the Community Resource Exchange (CRE):

CRE is a nonprofit consulting firm with a unique vision - impacting social change. CRE believes that community-based organizations (CBOs) are the engines of social change in communities where opportunities and resources are limited. CRE's mission is to build management capacity in community-based and grassroots organizations in low and moderate income neighborhoods. With almost 30 years of experience, CRE has had the unique opportunity to observe sector-wide trends over a significant period of time, and as such, has served as a resource on issues for the nonprofit sector, the press and policymakers alike.
