The screen saver "plays" the drawing using a proprietary drawing engine. You can think of the screen saver as a MP3 player where the drawings are the MP3 files. Each drawing is created using the Drawing Hand Creations' ArtStudio Drawing Program. As an artist creates a drawing every brush stroke, color change and brush change (size, transparency, pressure) is recorded by to a file. The screen saver then replays the drawing by reading in the instructions from the file.
When the screen saver starts the "drawing hand" appears on your computer screen and begins drawing. The hand draws and blends colors to recreate the drawing. You see the entire drawing from start to finish. It's like looking over the artist's shoulder. The first version of the screen saver was released in 1997 and consisted of drawings based on famous paintings (Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh). The latest version can also draw cars, animals, people, faces and drawings for the holidays. The free version of the screen saver that draws Barack Obama can be downloaded from: http://www.drawinghand.com/ObamaByDrawingHand.html
