Atlanta jury finds 22years Devonni guilty in a shooting death of college student from KC

The Fulton county jury here in Atlanta convicted a 22 years old Devonni Benton for murder and two counts of attack in the death due to shooting of Spelman sophomore Jasmine Lynn and was awarded a life sentence and an extra 25 years for the killing. The jury also convicted Devonni for possessing weapons too.

Lynn, who was 19 years old, was the first in her family who went to attend the college in Atlanta. Her relatives said that she had promised them that she planned to do better in school this year. She also wrote on a social networking site that she is very ambitious and is looking forward to a successful future.

The defense Attorney, however, still claimed that his client Devonni was innocent. As the judgments were being read on Saturday, gasps and sighs could be heard across the entire courtroom. Jasmine Lynn's mother was seen dabbing tears from her face and the members of Devonni Benton's family was crying uncontrollably sitting at the back of the courtroom.

The three day trial finally came to an end in the Atlanta courtroom, when the jury heard the final arguments of both the sides. The convict Devonni Benton still has a time of 30 days in his hands to appeal against the verdict and the defense attorney, Patterson, told the Atlanta journal - Constitution that he will surely appeal.
