The Current Indian Cricket One-day & Twenty 20 team may have that youthful look and exuberance about them but 25 years ago, a bunch of young guns made the world sit up and take notice on that June Morning. These unknown men ensured that the rest of the world, and India itself. Would talk about them for years to come. They sowed the seeds for what was to come. Those Young guns were the ones who showed the way.

Kapil Dev and his "Devils" stunned the world by dismantling the mighty West Indies from the pedestal to take the World Cup in 1983. Twenty-Years on, the Silver Jubilee of that momentous occasion, it was the apt and perfect opportunity to honour these "boys" who had turned men.

After going down a trip down memory lane when that '83 team assembled at the Long Room at Lords this year, it was the United Arab Emirates, consisting of a large expat population, to honour them.

The "Legends of Lords" night at the new The Atlantis, The Palm Dubai was a night one wouldn't forget in a hurry. The entire team except fpr 'Colonel' Dilip Vengsarkar were present. And they went down memory lane sharing anecdotes from that historic June 25.

Some may hold various positions in variou sfields and may evn be part of a 'rebel' set-up, but Thursday night in Dubai, it was camaraderie all the way.

Kapil Dev said it was team spirit and camaraderie that helped htem win. "We had great team spirit and evreybody was very motivated. I still remember, I didn't have to say, "Lets go for practice", said Kapil.

The members of that victorious squad along with the team management were part of this grand celebration hosted by VJ Cyrus Broacha. Channel 2 Group Corporation was the exclusive promortor and Rights Owner of this evnt in the UAE

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education, was the guest of honour and felicitated the players. "These are strong ties between India and the UAE and it is my pleasure to have these players in our midst and honour them" he said.

A Diamond & Ruby Studded trophy was displayed on the occasion. The trophy will be put up fo rauction for two months and the proceed will be distributed among the winning team.

Ajay Sethi, Chairman Channel 2 Group Corporation, said, "It gives us immense pleasure and pride to be associated with an event of this stature. Cricket flows in our bloodstream and we Indians are extremely passionate about Cricket. This team made India and Indians all across the world proud. "it was our endevour to let the residents of UAE relive those glorious moments and be a part of this historic celebration."
