As long as we're on the topic of records, the Mets might have set yet another one Wednesday night, playing what was arguably their worst game of the season. Of course, the Atlanta Braves were more than happy to take advantage of the "curse," sending the New Yorkers home with a resounding 8-3 walloping, and leaving them seven and a half games back in the NLE standings. Curses and records aside (including a Mets record number of errors committed in a game), the Braves certainly did their part, with three home runs, including back to back homers by Chipper Jones and Brian McCann in the third inning to wreck the Mets 2-1 lead in the top of the inning. Mets pitcher Hisanori Takahashi said of his teammates through his translator, "They don't want to make errors. But it happens." No doubt the beleaguered Mets wonder why it seems to keep happening here. Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking websites |
