This Tuesday morning Atlanta announced that it has signed 18 years old, Dominican shortstop Salcedo who is regarded as one of the top talents available in the international market. Salcedo received a whopping 1.6 million dollars as a signing bonus. By signing him, Atlanta has improved their organizational depth in an impressive manner.

Braves fall to Astros 10-4, Rookie Minor confident despite loss

It was one of those games that bring to mind the statement, "The operation was a success, but the patient died." For several innings, rookie pitcher Mike Minor, filling in for injured starter Kris Medlen, was having a pretty good night in his major league debut at Houston's Minute Maid Park. He delivered pretty good pitches, and on the offense, home runs courtesy of Jason Heyward and Brian McCann made for a promising game. And if the game had ended with the sixth inning, Braves fans could all have gone home pretty happy with their boys. Sure, the fourth inning had seen a couple of errors, but all in all, the Braves were playing pretty well.

Turner Field curse zaps the Mets… again

Originally built for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Turner Field seems to hold something of a curse for the New York Mets. They managed to lose all six games of a playoff series there in 1999, and their all-time record at Ted's Place is equally unimpressive, with 36 wins dwarfed by 73 losses. And last night'sgame against the Braves did nothing to dispel the notion that the place is cursed for them.

Atlanta Braves win some, lose some

Saturday morning, things were looking pretty good for the Braves, with their 6-4 defeat of the Cincinnati Reds, a loss that put the Reds a half game behind National League Central leaders St. Louis Cardinals. At one point, it had looked as if the Braves were on the way to dominating the NL East, with a commanding 3.5 game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies. But that was not to be.

Braves' Jurrjens has only inflammation in shoulder

Jair Jurrjens, the Braves pitcher of Atlanta experienced soreness after a throw at the camp. He was relieved on Wednesday after the MRI results declared no structural damage in his right shoulder. The MRI revealed that there is some tightness and inflammation in his shoulder and also he can get back to the baseball activities within a week.
