Advocate magazine which has a high gay readership has surprisingly awarded Atlanta as being number one as regards to the gay population, thus making it a gay capital. Atlanta has left behind SanFransisco, New York and Los Angeles which were regarded as the most popular when it came to the gay community; in fact these supposedly popular cities are not even in the ranking. Atlanta is followed by Austin, Burlington, Iowa city, Bloomington etc. Milke Albo from the Advocate confirmed this after compiling data such as elected gay officials, same sex couples per capita, state-wide marriage equality and other statistics like gay films rented gay bars per capita, cruising spots per capita etc. Places like Atlanta are becoming popular hubs for gays in the vicinity to be around and feel more at home about being out. This is termed as a bit strange considering that Georgia does not have any laws to facilitate same sex marriage and only have some gay elected officials. Mike Albo has no doubt that Atlanta is the most gayest city as there are an estimated 29 gay bars and is supposedly dubbed Hotlanta, according to him the ladies in Atlanta are gracious, the guys are hunky and the gay sports leagues are organized very well. There are references to gay people who have moved to Atlanta from other states and have felt a sharp difference and that there is no comparison as to which is better for gay people, thus also proving that the smaller places like Austin, Texas, Iowa City and Asheville, N.C have more gay population than the seemingly major metros. |
